About me: ( by DUSTIN RAWLS)

I’m so genuinely caring that people often take my genuine interest in their thoughts as sarcasm or mocking. I’m loyal to those who are loyal to me and often to those who aren’t. I think everyone will get his or hers in the end. I’m somewhat of a wanderer -- in thought and physical location. I’m not a “think-before-you-speak” kinda guy. I have no respect for a disrespectful person. I consider myself to be virtually fearless, and although I acknowledge consequence, I don’t empower it – “Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we often might win, by fearing to attempt.” Every man should pave his own path, establish his own beliefs and take full advantage of his right to the pursuit of happiness! “Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.” I’m a hopeless romantic, believe in love and soul mates and want a woman who sees right through me and loves what she finds! I have the tightest knit group of friends and greatest family a man could ask for and would lay down my life for every one of them!

Procrastination is wasting today’s time to clutter up tomorrow’s opportunities with yesterday’s troubles.

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

Endurance vs. Indecisiveness
Life
Endurance is often a form of indecision…-- Elizabeth Bibesco
I recently posted a bulletin addressing my decision to make a career change. The decision making process was a fairly long one, which made me question my ability to decide what I want. Of course, if you know me at all, you know I have had this problem for a very, very long time. I’ve always had a little “yes-man” in me, feared verbal confrontation and worried more about how what I do will affect others than myself. Recently, I’ve been making strong efforts to change those things about myself because I don’t believe they are a part of who I am or want to be.
One of my biggest advocates for changing these qualities is Becca, who constantly has to remind me of how not everyone will do for me as much as I try to do for them. I know a lot of people will. Most who are reading this would do as much for me as I would for them, but I do not discriminate. This can be a good quality at times because many hail “the Golden Rule” as the greatest truth; However, I often “Golden Rule” myself out of opportunities based on how my decision will affect others.
I was proud of myself for sticking with my current employer even though I did not completely like the position I have. I used my endurance in the situation as reason to feel like I’ve been accomplishing something worthy of my time. Indecisiveness is absolutely never a good thing, and after reading this quote today, I realized that endurance could sometimes be the indecisiveness that is so damaging to a life’s journey. I knew for a fact, months ago, that I would never want to make this job my career, but I didn’t ask for a new position; I didn’t look for a new job; I just maintained a state of enduring indecisiveness because I didn’t want to put my employer in, what I thought would be, a tough spot.
I finally made a decision, and guess what. My former employer is just fine without me. (Imagine that)
I never thought of my endurance in some situations, relationships, ideologies or habits to be indecisiveness, and I could imagine not too many people do. Since reading this quote earlier, I’ve pointed out many such areas in my life. If something has been in your life long enough to feel like, “it’s what I do”, think about if it’s in your life because you want it to be or because you fear making a change, a new decision or a sacrifice.
